Design Your Own Superhero.
Design Your Own Superhero (DYOS) is a creative learning resource for young people and teachers. This 8 minute pilot video (2009) showcases the successful, first stage pilot for DYOS with teachers and year 9 pupils from Rastrick High School (Brighouse) and features the winning ideas for superhero characters and comic covers.
Self-discovery and reflection
Bringing creative learning to life the project links with core subjects – English, Art and ICT and was originally designed to help nurture the gifted and talented, with the unexpected bonus of engaging the otherwise ‘disengaged’. From viewing the video the results of young people’s work (when given the right creative stimulus) speaks volumes in terms of personal achievement and self-development linked to the world of work.
As a promotional tool currently aimed at year 9-11 pupils the aim of the video is to encourage other schools to participate in DYOS. Paul (The Bulletman) Kerfoot and Bulletpoint Design are looking for schools, academies, colleges and partners to register their interest with a view to taking part in the future. Please get in touch!
“Every superhero must have three things; a name, an outfit and an arch enemy.” – Paul (The Bulletman) Kerfoot
